Found out how to force TemporalAA regardless of fps.

Currently, you have TempAA only when the fps is above 60.
I now know how to force it on all the time.
It's very nice!

If anyone cares, let me know. Otherwise, I'm going to bed.

Play in 640*480 with low detail so FPS never goes below 60 FPS?

Pay no attention to his vsync comment. I don't believe it.

Yeah VSYNC needs to be enabled if you want TAA to work. Saw it on rage3d too.

Oh and if you can't find a program that will run lower than 60 FPS, try Farcry

I just tried it out. Everything still works... but I really cannot tell if temporal AA is different. My 9800xt is already fast enough to use it without problems.... and I'm having trouble finding a program that will run under 60fps.
I could make an extremely long list of occassions, with different settings were framerate drops way lower than that and you wouldn't even need recent games for that.

And this is a little confusing, but I wonder how much of a difference in quality setting those to to "2" or "3" would make? And at what performance hit?
No significant performance hit at all between 2 and 3. Instead of merging sampling patterns twice in the temporal dimension (ie 2x sparse + 2x sparse = 4x sparse), they get merged three times (3* (2*x sparse)= 6x sparse). Before you start rejoicing about the "great" opportunity you just read about, the maximum the triangle setup allows is a 12*12 grid and never more. What's worse is that edge crawling turns -whenever the framerate drops below a certain threshold - from horrendous at "2" to abysmally bad at "3".

I know that it'll take months for some to get polygon edge crawling into their vocabulary, but if you want to call it a feature be my guest. Oh and low resolutions suck

I'd be happy to do a follow up list that'll show even more situations with an X800XT

I didn't say there weren't any. I implied THAT I DON'T HAVE A GAME THAT DOES.

Oh, and honestly Ail, your twitterings and grandstanding get so tiresome sometimes. You could try being more helpful and less condescending in your posts.

I found a way to force it to work and I posted it. It's a true setting and screw you guys who don't think otherwise.

More like the majority of them all. I'm finishing up a review as we speak and it should be a pretty eye opener from the minimum framerates alone how easy it is even in quite older games to drop to the lower 20's or 30's at times and that irrelevant if it's a 2 or 3 year old game. What's crucial in this case is that you're way better off with much higher resolutions in older games and 2x or 4x MSAA, then chasing around for that magical threshold in order to get that joke of a feature to operate and yes it's as honest as it can get.

Seen it, tried it and it's entirely worthless IMHO.

There's more help in my former reply - if you actually read what I wrote - then you got in the entire thread at rage3D.

It's not my fault that I don't consider the so called "temporal AA" (which is actually a sample merge in the temporal dimension under weird conditionals and a literal abuse of what real temporal AA stands for) a feature if I ended up after hours of continious testing with horrendous edge crawling.
