i'd have to say metallica even though their latest offering suxxed ass. they are by far the best band i've ever seen and i've seen them many times since the 80's. never once did i leave a show thinking i didnt get my money's worth. hehe one of the best parts of a metallica show is all the femz who like to take off their clothes

Hmmm....guess I'd probably have to go with Rage Against the Machine. Other bands I get sick of, but I can always listen to rage and feel it.

hehe I remember asking an English Prof what her favorite book was and she said "Maybe if you asked my my top 50 we would get somewhere"
I am the same with with music. For the longest time it was Nine Inch Nails, my gateway to electronic music, but I don't listen to them as much as I used to, cept when new material comes out. The remix cds, Fixed and Further Down the Spiral are required listening IMO. Pink Floyd is also very improtant. They contributed SO MUCH to the modern day music scene, if you haven't listened to Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall, you are seriously missing out. Boards of Canada are just fantastic, in electronic music there is a lot of ripping off and overlap but these guys are great, they capture the emotion of nostalgia perfectly in music. Another good artist that I recently got into is Biosphere, this guy stands out in the Ambient scene, Substrata is just too awesome. Air is great, Moon Safari, Virgin Suicides sountrack, and Talkie Walkie are great cds I have been listening to a lot.

counting crows are cool because their songs are a little deep and can mean different things to many people. their laid back and allow you to find your own reason to like it. i like a lot of their songs and not jes the one's they play or played on the radio. some of their best you'd have to own their shit to hear ![]()

Front Line Assembly, no contest... Ever since I first heard "Mindphaser" (on MTV!!! of all places, yes they had actual alternative music once) I've been sold. About every new album was better than the one that came before it and that's a rare feat these days...
And I've always like The Beastie Boys as well. Though every album since Paul's Boutique was worse than the one before it, but since then they reestablished themselves with To The 5 Burroughs (imho)...

PINK FLOYD~
BEN FOLDS FIVE~ DMB~ In that order. Pink is one of the deepest bands of all time, not to mention incredible music. Ben Folds incorporates my love of piano into his songs, not as deep, but sound excellent and cover everyday topics Dave Matthews Band is an incredibly talented group of musicians, and never cease to entertain. following (no order) are queen, styx, kansas, zepplin, guster, five for fighting, wainwright, NIN, tool, foo fighters, pearl jam... I could go on forever...

I would like to point out that Boards of Canada/Biosphere sound nothing like either NIN/Floyd, completely different genre.Air on the other hand is trip-hop and the most conventional of those groups, they are kinda acid-jazz/trip-hop, also recommend Portishead in that group. Now if you really want to hear something different, I recommend Boards of Canada, either Music Has the Right to Children http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...music&n=507846 ![]() Or the 2 cd Geogaddi http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...music&n=507846 ![]() For a more accessable sound I recommend Biosphere - Substrata, thought by many to be the best ambient cd of the 90s. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...music&n=507846 ![]()

Didn't we already have one of these?
Ah well, here we go again... BTW, Boards of Canada are GREAT! Fav. band of all time... Kind of a tough one, if I have to pick only one, but I'd have to say: At the Drive-In. I believe they really didn't have a genre. They were such an overlooked gem, and they had their own thing, and it worked very well. There will never be another band like them ever again.
