That would be the X850XT PE. Core clocked at 540 and the memory at 590[1180]. Decent card but too damn expensive new for the performance and features offered right now when compared to PCI express cards.

Cheapest I could find at $299, but out of stock;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...MP=OTC-17exta6

The rest I found here $400-$500, which is really insane, because the card simply shouldn't be that expensive.

You guys are all wrong. A friend of mine was able to find an AGP 8X slotted ATi Radeon X1600. It was a difficult search but he found it nonetheless. Can't give you the price or where to find it now but am about to conduct a search. What I can say about the card it isn't 1st party (read: ATi themselves DO NOT make this card. A 3rd party company does). Stay tuned to this thread for more info. Out!

A PCI express 1600 XT receives 27.7 frames and the X850XTPE receives 61.2 frames in the FarCry 1600 x 1200 with x4MS and x8AF -- Checked Beyond3d to be sure.

The X1600XT doesn't come in AGP, only the X1600 Pro that that's slower than a 9800 Pro. I just bought a NEW X850 Pro for $199 off of eBay. The X850XT is still way too expensive so I went with the Pro. GPU and memory is the same and so is the bandwidth of 34.6GB/s The only difference is the Pro has 12 active pipes where as the XT has 16. The AGP version of the X850 Pro can be unlocked so that's what I'm going to do... The guy had 6 but they are all gone but I see a lot still there for $219.

Radeon X850 XT PE.

I don't know why some of you have the impression that the X1600PRO with almost one third of the multitexturing fillrate is any faster than the R480.

In terms of arithmetic throughput the R480 rates at ~104 GFLOPs/s, while the RV530 at 85 GFLOPs/s. The second has of course the advantage of SM3.0 compliance and dynamic branching/loops that come with it.

Thanks all... do you know if the X850XT PE features GPU encoding for MPEG via ATI's AVIVO ?

Cause if it does not I wouldn't bother upgrading...

AVIVO is present only on R5x0/RV5x0 class of GPUs. If you're planning to upgrade soon AGP isn't the best idea anymore, especially for the price those GPUs cost nowadays.

You mean the Windows Media Acceleration? Yes it does work on X800 series.
