Eragon (movie)

Saw this yesterday.

I found this entertaining, and time didn't drag (then again it's only 100 minutes long)

At first I was thinking "MEH!", but as it got on it became ok.

I esp liked the dragon fight and also the flying dragons and the sounds they made, that was all well done.

Anyone know where it was filmed?

I'd give it 6.5/10 (7 is too high)

I was kinda looking forward to seeing it and then read the reviews. This thing is bombing in online reviews from the critics to the viewers. I've seen mostly "C" or 5/10 gradings. I guess it's a wait until video one for me.

I got roped into seeing it tomorrow. I guess I'll see this thread again....

I watched a newsbit on Mel Gibson yesterday where he sounded insane, pretty much took back the apology to the Jews about his drunkin' idiocy (and recanted his thoughts about "reaching out" to the Jewish community), and still looked drunk.... I won't be seeing Apocalypto or any Mel production anytime soon.

Glad I didn't read the book first.... It's clearly one of those movies that just screams that the book was better. It's what would happen if you took the LoTR and made it two hours long. The two positives is that the author (who wrote it as a teen) grew up about 4 hours from me in Paradise Valley, MT. The special effects aren't that bad either... just 1995. It reminded me of a wee bit of a cross between Dungeons and Dragons the movie and Dragonheart (1996... and same types of special effects).

It never really pulls you in and it's hard to believe that a farmer

I actually started laughing at the point where he had his shirt off and asked my girlfriend if she thought the movie was being sponsored by Teen magazine.

for those of you who hated it, try reading the books and see if you like the story better

I've read the Wiki summation of the books and it's nothing but a flat-out Star Wars rip-off.

But you did read about how his daddy was once a Dragon Rider but betrayed his order and is now the evil dark lord, right? And how his uncle who was raising him is killed, but the boyish main hero is taken under the guidance of a wise old man who was once a Dragon Rider too and will train him how to be one.

Look, I'm sorry you enjoy reading shit and, as you admitted, are looking forward to that third turd to be published so you can waste more of your time and money, but there's no need to get all defensive about your lack of literary taste.

even without seeing this movie, I could have told you all it was crap.

any Hollywood produced, CGI riddled "fable" that's promoted like this thing is gonna be a stinker.
